Inside the Magic

Part 3:

Conclusion: Tao of Tarot, Self, and Love

Now we reach the crux, this is where each card and its path has led us to, the start of the wrap up to the reading. Here within the eighth position, the heart of the person is shown, it is the card of the questioner, revealing their nature, their understanding, and in a sense, it reveals their soul.

Often it is where the biggest revelation of the reading happens, sometimes it is where the ends justify the means. Kind of like a full circle, and other times it will echo or sum up the question again, it depends on the factors. In this case our eighth position, is heart of the matter.

8th Position: Death – The Heart of the Matter

Well in order to achieve Self-Love we do need to be prepared to let our concept of self go, I mean its what has been holding us back all this time after all.

To be worthy of self-love means to be ready to let go of what holds you back from it, so here’s the biggest question of all, what’s stopping you? Why not just simply allow yourself the chance to fall in love with you all over again and embrace the whimsical childlike nature of seeing with fresh eyes.

Why create so many obstacles in your own path to it? If you’re ready, then just give yourself permission to see the world with new and fresh eyes.

Imagine the possibilities, and better still imagine the person you have the possibility of becoming, when you finally stop worrying about pleasing some fiction of the perfect society, and just please yourself, in any way that you wish to understand those words.

Okay, the Celtic Cross has taken us on quite a journey, by going back to basics the Mythic Deck, and the Celtic Cross have been able to take us on quite an in-depth and involved journey across the concepts and boundaries of self-love. Here within the ninth position of the spread it begins to draw conclusions and wrap up any loose threads.

The Ninth position is about drawing conclusions from the previous cards, before answering or revealing the last truth, which is about realisations. Right, let’s look at the accumulation of the cards thus far…

9th Position: The Wheel of Fortune - Drawing Conclusions

The Wheel turns, we see it on every wheel from our computer mouse to the taps and cars. Therefore, it is a safe bet that fortunes wheel also turns, turning darkness into light, and light into dark. We traverse these states all the time, but within the light there will always be dark, just as much as within the dark there is always going to be light.

We’ll always go through periods where we’ll question, we’ll believe that we’re not worthy of love, or self-love. Thing is these are transitory states of being, they will metamorphose into a different state of being, once we’ve learnt what we need to from where we were.

It’s always about the journey, just as much as the destination. So don’t get to hung up on the finer points. Enjoy the experience and grow from it, and yes I do speak from the place of going through this, every day in some shape, manner, or form.

Lastly the Tenth position, the conclusion of this spread centred around the topic and concept of Self-Love.

As I prepare to answer this last card, I take this moment to thank Raine for hosting and wrangling this topic, I also thank you for reading this entry, please remember to leave me a comment, and to make use of the links to visit everyone else who has taken part.

10th Position: The Empress – Conclusion

What better way to end a topic and spread devoted to Self-Love than with the Empress card.

This is the representation of love itself, love from within, love from those close to us, and love that comes from within.

Like a pregnancy, Self-love is born from within us, and also from around us, it can be something that grows from a seed planted by another, just as much as from a seed that we have planted from within our psyche.

Embrace the chance to become and grow from the very notion of love itself, and never be afraid to make mistakes, and get messy, it is how we learn.

Wow! That's all I have to say. This was an amazing and beautiful reading and you told the story so well.
I've never actually done or had a Celtic Cross spread. I've always thought it was a little complicated, but you made it beautiful and real.
